Writer and Visual Artist
Artist Statement:
My goal as a mixed Latina-Filipina writer and visual artist is to create new ways for my readers/viewers to feel and think about the world in meaningful, deeply experiential, and entertaining ways. In my photography, photo-poetry, and digital designs I seek to tell stories—stories of the otherwise maligned, misrepresented, and unremembered.
More about Corina:
As a writer and visual artist, Corina often uses word-image narratives to explore issues of representation, ancestry, and identity—with an especial interest in the social human experience of those who have been displaced and disenfranchised. She recently graduated from Upper Arlington High school, and is now a Freshman at the University of Texas at Austin where she hopes to bring her passions of art, literature, humanities, and design.
Corina’s photographs have won awards. Her recent photo-poem “Our Maker Fathers” appears in the creative arts journal, Straylight Literary Arts Magazine. Additionally, she recently received Gold Key in the regional Scholastics Art and Writing Awards for her photograph "Eclipse". Both of which are featured here on her website!
